Area : Technical consultant : The extension of this Château Greysac domain offered the possibility to construct a building on the eastern flank of the vineyards by inserting the storage areas to the west. In order to minimise the impact of the construction, the architect seperated the brief into two parts. The virtually identical halls are disposed in a parallel manner, creating a central courtyard onto which the large sectional doors open. In contrast, the peripheral facades in red cedar are enlivened only by polycarbonate banding just below the roof level. This element is conceived as a pronounced overhang which recalls agricultural drying facilities. The drainage channels are placed slightly upwards in the roof construction dispensing with the need for gutters. The timber underside of this overhang illustrates the care taken by the architect in the face of a modest brief.
