Contractor(s) : This project is built on a 30 hectare property. The different elements of the brief are grouped in a single, simple volume of 30 x 72 metres, organised around two interior courtyards. The farm, certified ‘organic’, is situated in the Eastern part of the building whilst the housing and reception spaces face West. The alignment of the buildings around the courtyards favour deep volumed buildings covered by single pitched roofs orientated towards the interior. The main structure is in timber whilst the facades are clad in screwed mélèze panels. This arrangement facilitates repairs or modifications and avoids specific surface treatments. Certain areas are treated in brick protected by a slate based render, notably the housing zones. The compact disposition of the building participates in its climactic performance. The whole of the living spaces are heated by a wood burning installation completed by a solar installation.
